Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Maintain Web Applications: Develop and maintain complex web applications using PHP and other related technologies. Ensure high performance, reliability, and scalability of web applications.
- Code Review and Quality Assurance: Write clean, well-documented, and efficient code. Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards. Implement and maintain unit tests to ensure code quality and functionality.
- Technical Leadership and Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers and team members. Contribute to technical discussions and decision-making processes within the development team.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with all stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions. Participate in project planning and contribute to the development of project timelines.
- Database Design and Management: Design and optimise database schemas for efficient data storage and retrieval. Write and maintain complex SQL queries and stored procedures.
- Front-End Development: Ensure seamless integration of front-end and back-end functionalities.
- Stay Updated with Industry Trends: Keep up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in web development and PHP. Propose and implement improvements to current processes and technologies.
- Debugging and Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues in web applications. Debug and troubleshoot application issues and implement effective solutions.
- Security Best Practices: Implement security best practices to protect web applications from vulnerabilities. Conduct regular security audits and apply necessary patches and updates.
- Performance Optimisation: Monitor and optimise application performance, including server-side and client-side. Implement caching strategies and other performance-enhancing techniques.
- Client Interaction: Offer technical support and guidance to clients as needed.
Essential Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in a PHP development role
- Advanced proficiency in PHP and the Laravel Framework
- Strong understanding of unit testing and test-driven development
- Proficiency in front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and AJAX
- Experience with VueJS or other JavaScript frameworks
- Strong knowledge of MySQL and database design
- Familiarity with Webpack, NodeJS, and NPM
- Experience with responsive design frameworks such as Twitter Bootstrap
- Ability to write robust, clean, and well-documented code
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Additional Information:
- Available to work Monday to Friday, starting anytime from 9 am, for at least 8 hours each day
- Able to commit to a long-term position
- Open to relocating closer to our office in East Tamaki, Auckland if needed
